May we introduce To Walk Again and Marc Herremans? In 2004 Marc Herremans established To Walk Again not long after his fatal fall during a training in Lanzarote. Together with his trainer Paul Van Den Bosch he stands at the cradle, an organization that collects money to finance research of spinal cord injury. The start of a success story.
To Walk Again was founded to help people with a spinal cord injury literally to walk again. Marc and Paul wanted to find the missing link between a revalidation center and the real world. Something between medical and social. They found this missing link in sports or in other words sports to improve physical health, social contacts and integration, well-being and so much more.
In 2008 To Walk Again bursted at the seams. Marc Herremans and coach Paul Van Den Bosch transferred the organization ownership to Sporta vzw. They both could no longer take the helm of the increasing growth of the organization. After the center in Tongerlo a new To Walk Again is opened in Merelbeke in 2008. To Walk Again becomes a key player in the world of disability sports. With the relay marathon Run To Walk Again and the gala night Night To Walk Again the organisation taps into new audiences.
To Walk Again 2.0
Early 2016 To Walk Again takes a major step. Jo Vandeurzen, Belgian minister of public health, gives the green light to establish a post rehabilitation center AZ Herentals. A dream come true. In the center patients with paraplegia can walk with exoskeleton bionics robots to prevent medical problems such as bed sores and osteoporosis and to keep them fit.
To Walk Again 2.0 wants to improve the quality of life of physical disabled people with high technology developments. They rely on public and private financing. People, companies or organizations can adopt a step rehabilitation robot. One robot gives 15 people the chance to do two step sessions every week.
Actually Marc is indescribable. We can only talk in superlatives about him and what he does. We know him as one of the most requested international motivational speakers, the man behind To Walk Again, organizer of several sporting events, team manager, trainer and founder of 185 training center and an inspiration for many. The fatal crash made him to whom he is now.
